iTunes is a b!tch

As usual this morning I connect the docking wire to fresh up podcasts and charge the battery. Some weird thing happened, first iTunes prompt me, saying it founds a new library and askes if I want to synchronise it. Without much thoughts, I click ‘yes/ok’. Then the update takes a very lengthy time. Then I notice all music apart from those podcasts have be wiped from the iTune library and my iPod! No bullshit, they’re A.L.L.  G. O. N. E! Not even the podcast subscribed feeds.

Luckily I have kept the iTune imported music with the PC. For those not familiar with this idea – When you insert a music CD into you PC, you ask iTunes to ‘import’ it as MP3 (aka rip), so later you synchronize your iPod with your PC, the imported MP3 is automatically downloaded to your iPod. iTune keeps a copy of the ripped MP3 in your PC as well.

For conserving the hard disk space, I deleted some MP3 sometimes, which reported as missing from iTune library.

In retrospective, I must have deleted the iTunes library index files. (typically in “My Documents\ My Music\iTunes” folder, names: “iTunes Library.itl” and “iTunes Music Library.xml”) which confused iTunes.

So have to re-import them from the PC hence rebuild the index files. The only things missing are those music I deleted. Now I have to rip them in again. Not using DRM download music yet – otherwise could be caught in the middle.

Lesson learnt:

1.       Don’t delete any music imported to your pc – storage is cheap.

2.       Backup imported MP3 with the index files – storage is cheap.

3.       Keep a backup list of your subscribe feeds on podcasts. This backuplist should got nothing to do with your iTunes or any application you used to download podcast. Just in case the application/your PC corrupted. Pain in the neck to search and get them back.

世界杯’投资策略’

世界杯来了!!!

说英格兰万巷人空也不为过。超市里-没人,购物中心里-没人,就连平时号称全欧洲最为繁忙的M6高速公也是空空荡荡的(我在家里看球呢,没功夫去检查 - 都是报纸说的)。

报纸还说预订好的婚礼也为英格兰对巴拉圭的开场赛改时/调整。了解英国情况的朋友可能知道,婚礼在英格兰可是头等大事,一般要花一年到一年半预订,筹备。这对新人特地调整时间让宣誓在开赛前结束,并推迟酒会招待时间。宾客先在预订酒店里看完球再说。报纸说‘连主持牧师也松了口气’。

我们家邻居早早就爬上屋顶,在电视天线上挂上圣乔治旗(英格兰‘国’旗)。前两天旗帜缠在杆上了,他还又特地把他那小货车开到旁边,再架上梯子去整理。

对于爱看足球的粉丝来说,这自然是不容错过的狂欢节。对于不那么热衷的呆鸟来说 - 比如我-如何能保持90分钟的高涨情绪,不至于显得特突厥呢?

小赌一把。一两镑即可。

利用你的相对清醒头脑小搞一把 - 粉丝们在主观情绪和酒精的刺激下早晕了。庄家是看下注比例的,他们才不管赛队实力情况呢。那天英格兰对巴拉圭那场,粉丝们把英格兰3:0买断了 -立博停了3:0的盘口。实际呢1:0 。对于呆鸟来说 ,你是在和粉丝们过招。

当然一边看比赛一边下注也很好玩,比如荷兰对黑山那场(11/06)。荷兰在89分钟获得禁区前任意球机会。这时场上比分是荷兰1:0。赌荷兰2:0就是赌这任意球进不进了。我下了一镑(赔八) - 当然最后没进 - 但是很刺激啊,赫赫。

至于怎么玩,我的策略是宜情即可,不要瞎搞。具体来说限定止损线,分散风险

限定止损线:确定自己在整个赛事的总共‘投资’额。发誓无论赛事如何,不追加‘投资’。

分散风险:(相对)大金额投在低赔率盘口,小金额可以尝试高赔率高风险。低赔率盘口是因为风险低,赛果可预期。高赔率的风险就大。
我的策略是,先投低赔率盘口,再将‘预期收益’投到高赔率盘口,保证起码不输。

比如墨西哥对伊朗(11/06)那场。大家都看好墨西哥赢,所以只赌输赢的赔率很低。但赌比分的赔率高。我是这么买的:
1 赛前
a. 墨西哥赢 (买13赔8) 下13镑
b. 墨西哥2:0 (买1赔6) 下5镑

中场踢成1:1。我连忙‘补仓’。如下:
a. 墨西哥赢 2:1(买2赔5) 下10镑
b. 墨西哥赢 2球以上 (买2赔11) 下2镑
最后是墨西哥赢 3:1。我赢4镑。钱很少,但是如果是2:0 或2:1,我就‘发’了。

记住,赢多赢少,输多输少不要紧。‘留的青山在,不愁没柴火’

The Internationale

The Internationale (L'Internationale in French) was the national anthem of the Soviet Union (1918-1943). And it was also the anthem of Communist parties and many socialist movements worldwide.

The original (French) words were written in 1870 by Eugène Pottier (1816–1887, later a member of the Paris Commune). Pierre Degeyter (1848–1932) set the poem to music in 1888. (It was originally intended to be sung to the tune of La Marseillaise.)

Today I found Russian Anthems museum has a huge collection of more than 20 different languages version of the song.

 I remember when I was very young, must be around 4,5 years old, we listen to the Internationale around midnight from the Central People’s Radio Station of China. It was the music they played to indicate the end to a day’s program.

I would be lying on bed; pretended sleeping. A kid cannot stay that late. I hear this anthem came from father's radio, from the darkness, silence of the night. Slowly by firmly, low tone by strong, like a fire lights the darkness.

It was then used as anthem of the 89 Tiananmen Square Student Movement. A popular Chinese Rock band Tang Dynasty released a rock version (can be found in the
Russian Anthems museum). And then, the anthem is unofficially banned.

‘Unofficially’ – the ruling party can not deny it as the anthem of communism ideology. Certainly they want the mass to forget it.

Run 'N Climb

I set myself a life goal, to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here I found some preparation tips and stage milestones I should work towards.
Been serious with threadlmill two months ago. back at the beginning I started with 5 minutes running. Now I can see some big improvement on myself. Sometime is better than the other. But I normally can do 12 minutes for around 2Km.
Today being particularly good. I have done 2.45Km in 12 mins. So I decided to start an entry just to log my record. I am going to add my records at lease once a week in the time to come.

the necessity of lives

I used to go to gym every lucnh break. Have changed my job recently.  Now the new office doesn't have a gym nearby (there is a Living Well), posh but impratical and expensive. So have to keep on working during the lunch time.

Today I join a local gym club. It costs 180 pounds a year. About 50p a day, If I visit it everyday. Bargain. Crips for fitness. Just leave office a little bit earlier than usual.

Life is good~~~
